Ottawa Farmers’ Market at Lansdowne Prepares for Third Exciting Season
The organizing committee of the Ottawa Farmers’ Market, as well as local, farmers, growers and bakers are all busily preparing for the opening of the market’s third season.
The Market will continue to be held on Sundays, beginning the first Sunday in May and running until the last Sunday in October, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A very high proportion of the vendors who participated in the market last season will be returning with their fabulous products, as well as twenty-five or thirty new ones. Expect to see exciting new products such as lamb, sheep milk cheeses, an even greater variety of produce, meats and baked goods and an increased selection of craft items.
As well as vendor booths, there is also a food court where shoppers can take a break and have a delicious breakfast, lunch or snack. Watch for special events that will take place throughout the season, and Max and Willie, the gentle Clydesdales from Navandale Farm will be back to give wagon rides to all ages.
There is a strong possibility, pending final approval, that there will be a Thursday afternoon and evening market in addition to the Sunday Market, (beginning at the end of June during strawberry season). This would allow for some vendors who cannot sell on Sunday to participate, as well as serve customers who go out of town for the weekend or wish to shop more often than once a week. Check out the market website at www.ottawafarmersmarket.ca for details on location, times, vendors, upcoming events and news about the Thursday Market schedule.
